It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan “Sue” Majchrzak (nee Misko) at the age of 67. She passed away on January 29, 2024 surrounded by her family after a six-year battle with colon cancer. Sue fought a courageous fight with the support of everyone who knew and loved her. She was a beloved wife and devoted mother. Sue is survived by Kenneth Majchrzak, her husband of 39-years, daughters Morgan Majchrzak and Gloria Majchrzak, sisters Andrea Jackowicz (Raymond) and Sandra Porter. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Misko, her mother Gloria Misko (nee Tomaszewski) and her father Frank Misko. She is sadly missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, in-laws, godchildren as well as friends and neighbors.
Born on December 14, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sue was a confident, funny, intelligent, kind and genuine person. As a teenager, she was active playing basketball at the Bridesburg Recreation Center. Sue found a passion for swimming and joined the Bridesburg Swim Team, earning medals and first place finishes. She attended Nazareth Academy High School and graduated in 1974. She had many good memories growing up in Philadelphia which held a special place in her heart. It was her home for the first 28-years of her life where she met and married her husband, Ken. After relocating to Marietta, Georgia in 1984 and starting a family, Sue moved with her family to Frederick, Maryland in 2000.
Sue devoted her life to her family and children. After her first child was born, Sue stopped working full-time. Her devotion to family continued throughout her life as she raised her two daughters into the beautiful, confident and intelligent women they are today. Once both of her daughters entered high school, Sue found a new joy working in Frederick County Public Schools serving lunches to elementary and middle school students.
Sue loved the beach and anywhere warm or tropical. Some of her favorite vacations included visiting Niagara Falls, Hawaii, Daytona Beach, FL, Panama City Beach, FL, Aruba, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic. Closer to home, Sue loved to travel each summer to Ocean City, Maryland with her family, collecting seashells and walking on the boardwalk while stopping at her favorite lunch spot for hamburgers and vanilla milkshakes.
Sue was the epitome of a Philadelphia Eagles fan. One of her favorite football memories was watching the Eagles win their first Super Bowl in 2018. Sue also enjoyed playing bingo on Friday nights and shopping at local craft fairs and festivals with her daughters. Sue enjoyed and took pride in her outdoor flowers and also had a great collection of indoor plants. Sue absolutely loved oldies music, and whenever ‘Unchained Melody’ played on the radio, she would crank up the volume and sing along. Sue also enjoyed going to Broadway plays and concerts with her husband and daughters. Some of her favorite shows were seeing Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart and traveling to Baltimore to see “Wicked” and New York City to see “Rock of Ages.”
After Sue was diagnosed with colon cancer, she tackled all chemotherapy sessions and medical treatments with an extraordinary amount of positivity that carried until her very last breath. She was always laughing and smiling and catching up with all her nurses. Hugs from Sue were never in short supply. No matter how sick she became, she was always determined to continue fighting. Sue touched so many lives and will be remembered as strong, courageous and brave. Through her, our family knows what resilience and perseverance truly is. Her light, laughter, love and spirit remain with us, guiding us forward.
The family invites relatives and friends to join them on Saturday, March 23, 2024 to celebrate Sue’s life and share memories.
