Stephen J. Lis, 77, passed away on November 12, 2020 at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC. Steve was born on July 31, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Walter A. and Bertha Lis. Steve was a graduate of La Salle University with a B.S. in Accounting. In 1965 Steve started with the accounting firm of Lybrand, Ross Brothers and Montgomery, obtained his CPA license, and became a partner in renamed firm of Coopers and Lybrand in 1975. In 1984 he was transferred to the National Office in New York City and remained there until his retirement in 1999.
Steve met the love of his life, Marie (Nowakowski) Lis in grade school. They were happily married for 51 years until her passing in 2016. In 2009, Steve and Marie moved to Myrtle Beach from their home in Cranbury, NJ and enjoyed many years of retirement in their dream home. Steve had a love of cars, enjoyed fishing, casino boats, and a good Manhattan! He also loved the many dogs he and Marie shared their life with, including his last dog and "co-pilot" Abbigail Ann. Steve and Marie had a wonderful set of neighbors and friends in the Myrtle Beach area. Steve will be dearly missed by his two children, Stephen (Julia) Lis, Deborah (Chuck) Allen, his grandchild, David (Cleo) Allen and his great grandchildren Holly, Cassidy, and Charlie Allen. The family has suggested that those who care to can send a contribution to the charity of their choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to debbieallen6272@yahoo.com. Services will be private, and he will be interred with his wife in Pennsylvania.
