Stella J. Carneglia (nee Jeblonski), 88, of Philadelphia, PA passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2024, following a brief illness. Born on February 17, 1936, in the Bridesburg area of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Cecilia and Dominic Jeblonski.
Stella entered the workforce immediately after high school, starting her career as an administrative professional at Employer’s Group in Philadelphia (where she met the love of her life glancing at her over a filing cabinet … and married him two years later!). She quickly found her niche in the retail industry working for large retailers such as Clover, Strawbridge & Clothier, Macy’s and JC Penny.
Stella loved going to the Jersey shore, eating crabs and playing (but not losing!) at the casinos. She enjoyed traveling around the country with Joey and their treasured traveling partner, cousin Albert (Gallo). They shared many MANY good times, particularly in the Poconos. She treasured traveling with Joey internationally to Ireland, Italy, Canada and Mexico.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 67 years, Joseph D. Carneglia; their son, Mark (Maria); their God-Child, Laura Corcoran; many loved cousins, countless friends, neighbors and former colleagues.
Stella was preceded in death by her brother, Dominick E. Jeblonski; her beloved son, Michael; her grandson, Mark Jr., and daughter-in-law, Cindy Reeves.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Matthew’s Church on Cottman Avenue, (upper level), Philadelphia. The family will greet friends and loved ones from 9:15 AM until 10:15 AM. Interment is at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Remembered for her resilience, sharp wit, and generosity, Stella made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. “We’ll talk to you when we talk to you, and we’ll see you when we see you”.
