Ruth Miller

Miller, Ruth, - 90, of Ocean City, Ruth McClintock Miller, 91, of Ocean City, NJ and Tequesta, FL, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, just 39 days after the passing of her beloved husband, Conrad 'Connie' J. Miller, Jr. Loving mother of Cindy Miller (John Truchel) and Conrad 'Chip' J. Miller, III (Caroline Churchill). Devoted grandmother of Roy Reinard IV (Melissa), Conrad J. Miller IV (Rachelle), Alexander Miller, John Volturo (Katherine), John Truchel, Jr. and Ryan Truchel and great-grandmother of Patton Truchel, Porter Truchel, Luke Reinard, Josephine Reinard, Sadie Jean Volturo and Sydney Ruth Miller. Ruth received a full academic scholarship to Temple University after graduating Roxborough High School in January 1949. While at Temple Ruth met her husband, Connie, and made lifelong friends as a member of Theta Sigma Epsilon Sorority. Upon graduation in 1953 with a BA in Education, Ruth enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a teacher. In her early career, Ruth taught grade school in Philadelphia and Maryland; she went on to teach High School English at Gwynedd Mercy Academy for 25 years, leaving a lasting impression on many of her students. Since she was a child, Ruth spent her summers in Ocean City on the beach surrounded by a large circle of family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining, was a fantastic cook and threw epic parties. She loved dancing, especially with Connie and to the Mummers Strut, "Oh, Dem Golden Slippers." She loved to travel and planned many trips to Europe for students, family and friends. Ruth stayed active her entire life and especially loved sports, activities, clubs and groups that included a social lunch, dinner, party or trip; she was an avid tennis player, became a golfer at the age of 60 and was an excellent Bridge player. Ruth loved animals, taking in strays of all kinds for years and especially loved her Frenchie, Scout. After retiring, Ruth and Connie enjoyed many happy years on the bay in Ocean City and on the intracostal in Tequesta, FL doing what they relished most, spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass will be held in memory of Ruth and Connie at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 114 Atlantic Ave, Ocean City, NJ, on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:00am, visitation 9:00am-10:00am. A Celebration of Two Lives Well Lived will follow at Greate Bay Country Club.
