Richard “Dick”, “Poppy” A. Linde, Jr, died peacefully on February 27, 2024 at the age of 85, in hospice care at his home in Yardley, PA.
Dick was born on August 15, 1938 in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA to parents Richard and Elizabeth Linde. He was a Northeast Catholic High School graduate, Class of 1956 and then served in the US Naval Services in the Navy Band from 1956 to 1960. He also served as a Philadelphia Police Officer and played in the Police and Fireman’s Band.
Dick and Barbara married in Philadelphia, PA, in 1961. He attended Temple University and landed a job with Bell Telephone as a Systems Analyst where he worked until his retirement in 2000. After retirement he took a job as a Thermographer with Jersey Infrared Consultants.
Dick was an exceptional musician and could make music with any instrument. He was gifted vocally and sang in the St. Ignatius church choir for many years, as well as several different choral societies. He was a world traveler and with his wife Barbara took trips all over the globe. Dick and Barbara enjoyed theater and orchestra concerts. He loved to read and was an avid Eagles fan. In his later years, rheumatoid arthritis took a toll on him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Kolajtowicz Linde and will be missed by his daughters Lisa Reiser (Robert), Leslie Bussa (Nicholas), Amy Papatolis (Chris), Meredith Brown, as well as 8 grandchildren; Madeline, Robert, Amanda (Zachary), Emily, Anastasia, Alexander (Brooke), Arianna and Joshua (Emily.) He is also survived by his sister Barbara M. Linde (Jeffrey Hinckley) and was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Doris and his brother William (Judy).
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday March 9th from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Ignatius Church, 999 Reading Ave, Yardley PA 19067. His funeral mass will begin 10:30 AM and interment will be held privately.
We are grateful to the hospice service from Chandler Hall and to the aides from Right At Home-Langhorne.
