Husband, Father, Pop Pop, Friend. Richard was a family first man. He devoted his life to his family doing everything and anything for them whether it was working 2-3 side jobs, science projects, sporting events or killing a spider. He was a man that loved his Philadelphia Phillies, Fishing at Corsons Inlet, a good bowl of pepper pot soup, uncle Bills pancake house, tending to his garden, watching ancient aliens and oak island, chatting with neighbors, electrical work, sunny days, bacon, a cold beer, Kessels Corner, a comfy blanket, 4th of July wake ups , a burnt hotdog, Primos Hoagies, chocolate, the Beatles and Johnny Cash, butterflies, a coke Coca Cola, and Johnson’s popcorn. Richard was an active person enjoying long walks around the neighborhood and beach. He was kind, smart, an electrical genius , Vietnam veteran, patriot, avid reader, and very funny. His strength and humor helped him navigate these last 9 months. He will be missed by anyone that knew him. He is survived by his wife Joanne of 45 years, daughter Erica , son Richard (wife Janice) daughter Christine (husband Thomas), grandson John Benner, older brother Wesley Benner and younger sister Nancy Benner and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to his military services on Friday, May 31, 2024 precisely at 9am at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. We ask that if you are planning to attend, please meet the funeral procession at the cemetery by 8:45am.
