Dr. Renee Ellise Reynolds "Ms. Classic Universe 2021-2022", daughter of the late William Howard Reynolds and Sandra Lee Reynolds was born February 19, 1957 in Philadelphia, PA. She attended the public schools of Huey Elementary, Wagner JR High and Olney High, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was employed my FMC Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Always increasing her knowledge, Rene obtained her degrees in Specialized Business and Information Technology. She obtained her Ministry Certificate from Deliverance Bible Institute. She graduated from McFormalsdale Christian University, September 26, 2021 with an Honorary Doctor in Business, Ministry and Music. She has also obtained several diplomas in event planning, and floral designer. Rene was a bandleader and entrepreneur for over 20 years. She performed with and was the opening act for McFadden and Whitehead. Her band, The "R" Factor Exchange opened for Russell Thompson and The New Stylistics, The O'Jays, Vicki Winan and Avery Sunshine. Renee worked with top Philadelphia booking agents and several top wedding/corporate bands in the Tri-State area. Her band received the ISES, Rising Star and Versatility awards while being managed by Dave Dickerson of the DEC Group. She was a member of NABFEME-National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment. She appeared in the movie "Cover", which was directed by Bill Duke. She had several leading roles in plays written and directed by Mr. Rick Watson. Rene had two sisters, Loretta and Teal, who passed from Breast Cancer. Since 2013 her and her sisters had been hosting "The Pink Diamond Ball" fundraisers for the cause. She had been a strong advocate in trying to bring awareness of this disease to under privileged persons in memory of her sisters. Dr. Rene dedicated herself to helping women improve their own self-awareness. She devoted her time to sharing her vision thru social media, public speaking events, radio and interviews. As a Domestic Violence Survivor for over 40 years, Dr. Renee formed a platform to create awareness of Domestic Violence. She supported the fight of "Women Against Human Trafficking." She also was the Radio host of "Babegirl Says" at Power 4.4, in Maryland. She received several awards "The Congressional Record" and the Dr. Martin Luther King "Keeping the Dream Alive Award", the Role Model of Excellence Award for her continuous work in the community and always putting forth efforts to help others by any means necessary to help them to succeed in their journey. Dr. Renee competed in several Paget's. Her first was in Jr. High in the Miss Black Teenage Paget she won "Ms. Popularity", In 2019 Senior Queen USA 1st Runner Up, In 2020 Ms. Woman US Pennsylvania, and In 2021 Ms. Pennsylvania Classic Universe 2021-2022. She was awarded several other Sashes and Crowns throughout her life. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by so many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 10:26am. Dr. Rene Ellise Reynolds-Lawson, "Ms. Classic Universe 2021-2022", is preceded in death by her brother Stephen Kenneth Reynolds; her father, Rev. William Howard Reynolds, her sister Teal Denise Reynolds, sister Loretta (Kia) Reynolds-Sakil and her grandson Michael A. Vazquez "Mikey". Her grandparents; Elizabeth Foye', Henry Foye', Walter Wade, Irvin Reynolds and Bertha Reynolds. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Gwen Lawson, her sons; Gary Wayne Lawson, and William Jerome Lawson; daughter in law Kenia Lawson; daughter in law Sheri Pugliesi, her grandchildren(who meant all the world to her); Kaylani Lawson, Giovanni Lawson, and Adele Lawson, Christian, Austin, Kayla, and Millaniegreat grand's; Dylan, Teagan, and Benny, her adopted sons; Steve, Roy, Barrett, Gordo and Royce, her mother; Sandra L Reynolds Webster, her sisters; Sherrise Reynolds, Lisa (Reynolds) Lawson, Nolleen Taylor, and Lauren Durham, her brother-n-law Joseph Durham, Her Aunt's; Margo Davis and Auntie Joe (respectfully called), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers (FMC/WuXI/Shoprite), and Associates.
