Mildred "Millie" Macasevich age 94, formerly of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on November 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home in Whitehall.
Millie was born on November 1, 1927 to Stojan and Mary (Beckage) Marinkovich in Bethlehem, PA. Millie grew up in the Christmas City and graduated from Liberty High School. On August 26, 1950, she married Andrew A. Macasevich and they went on to have four children: Georgie, Jeffrey, Dawn, and Andrew P. Millie spent her life as a homemaker and caretaker to her family, and worked part time in the community. She spent most of her adult life living with her family on Hilton Street, opening her heart and home to others.
Millie brought joy, spunk, and sunshine to all those who knew her. She loved dancing to the Polka, bowling with the Hungarian Catholic Club Women's Bowling League, playing cards, winning at Bingo, watching her beloved Phillies, and rooting for the Eagles. She knitted scarves for children and family members, and loved buying gifts for others. Millie adored her friends at the Northampton Senior Center and was often the life of the party, the first to jump up and dance or dress up in costume. She loved elephants, lighthouses, Peach Schnapps, and sweets of all kinds! Millie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like sitting on the porch and watching the neighborhood activity, and her positive attitude and resilience will live on as an inspiration to her family and abundance of friends.
Millie was predeceased by her firstborn son Georgie (d. 1955) and spouse Andrew A. (d. 2002). She is survived by her three children: son Jeffrey Macasevich of Naples, FL, daughter Dawn (Macasevich) Saganowich & spouse Francis "Fritz" of Hokendauqua, PA, son Andrew P. Macasevich & fiance Calli Ginthner of Northampton, PA; five grandchildren Amy (Saganowich) Kern & spouse Benjamin, Rachel (Saganowich) Paashaus & spouse Tim, Adam Macasevich, Alexa (Macasevich) Cabrera & spouse Jose, and Mackenzie Macasevich; eight great-grandchildren; brother in law George Macasevich and wife Florence of Bethlehem, PA; many nieces and nephews, and other extended relatives who loved Millie dearly.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (15300 Green Pond Road, Easton, PA 18045) on Saturday December 11, 2021 from 10:30am-12:00pm, with a service following. Interment immediately to follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Millie's life. Please consider wearing the color purple or your favorite Philly sportswear. A celebration of life picnic will occur in the Spring of 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northampton Senior Center (902 Lincoln Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067; 610.262.4977), a place dear to Millie's heart where she experienced joy and friendship.
