Michael James Murray, of Philadelphia, passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 54.
Michael was the youngest child of Pauline Murray ( Lacerte) and the late John J. Murray. Michael took the best qualities of both of his parents. He was always there to lend someone a hand and make someone smile.
He was the loving husband of Kelly Murray (Cornwell). Together, they built a union based on love and friendship. In good times and bad, Michael could always count on Kelly. Michael enjoyed being with his family. The memories they made will fill Kelly's heart forever. The greatest joy that came from their union is their son, John.
Michael was so proud of John. The bond they shared was truly special. Whether it be casting a line in the water or sharing stories of Michael's youth, they would always have a laugh. There was no one else Michael would rather have by his side than John.
He was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, especially when it came to his beloved Flyers. Every year, he looked forward to attending games with John, a cherished tradition. The Eagles were a close second. One of their most memorable moments was watching the Eagles win their first Super Bowl together, and celebrating the victory in the streets at Frankford and Cottman with Martin and his boys.
Michael was the cherished brother of John Murray (the late Kathy) , Paula Schlechter (Mark), and Martin Murray (Colleen).
Together, they spent countless hours outside with their neighborhood friends. In the snow, it was tackle football, building ice forts and having snowball fights. In the summer, you could not keep them in the house. They would sit on the step and listen to music, skate with their dad, play stickball or go with their mom to their cousins. They would tease each other and fight but they were each other's biggest defenders and champions.
