Martha Ann Lacerte, Mott to her family and friends, age 77, of Philadelphia, passed away on December 17, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.
Daughter of the late Anthony and Martha Truchel. Beloved wife of John M. Lacerte. Loving mother of Jeannine Ulmer (Donnie), Claudine Purcell (Tom), John Lacerte (Heidi), Andrea Slavin (Matt) and Tom Lacerte (Jessica). Dear grandmother of Sean (Kate), Amber (John), Amanda (Jim), Devin, Kylie, Matt, Lauren, Tom, Delaney, Ryann, Tristan, and the late Lianne. Also sadly missed by her great grandchildren Madison and Liam.
Born on July 26, 1947, in Philadelphia, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished traditions.
Mott was a creative spirit who found joy in arts and crafts, especially her diamond art pictures, which she mastered with incredible skill and patience. She and her sister Rita shared a special bond creating wreaths and Christmas decorations, filling their time together with laughter and love. She especially enjoyed receiving the wreaths her daughter Jeannine made for her, which always brought her joy.
She also loved playing Kings in the Corner, a card game that brought many moments of joy and laughter. True to her spirited nature, she’d gleefully gloat when she won all the hands and playfully accuse others of cheating if they dared to beat her.
Family was at the center of Mott’s world. She cherished family traditions and worked tirelessly to keep them alive, ensuring that the bonds of family remained strong across generations. She had a knack for making every visit special, making everyone feel welcomed and loved with her warm personality and thoughtful gestures.
One of her unique traits was her love for making lists. She often wrote detailed lists upon lists of things for her daughter Claudine to bring to her at the nursing home, and Claudine always ensured she had just what she needed.
Mott had a sharp and witty sense of humor that could light up any room. She was always quick with a joke, sometimes a bit inappropriate, but always delivered with a mischievous grin that made it impossible not to laugh. Her humor was one of her most endearing qualities, bringing joy and laughter to those around her, even in the most unexpected moments.
Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories of her warmth, humor, and love for life. Her legacy will continue in the traditions she held dear and the many lives she touched with her kindness and creativity.
