Joan C. Ludwikowski passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 surrounded by her immediate family at the age of 76. Joan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 26, 1947 to Edward and Helen Pietrzak. She was raised in the Harrowgate neighborhood and graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in 1965. She was a devout Catholic as a member of St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church. Joan went on to devote her time to the children of the Philadelphia Public School District, serving as a secretary for over 40 years. She married Thaddeus (Ted) Ludwikowski in January of 1969, and had two beautiful children, Michael and Teddy. Together, their children were raised with constant love and affection. When Thaddeus passed away in July of 2012, he was dearly missed by Joan each and every day. Although Joan’s passing was unexpected, we are at peace to know that she will be reunited again with her late husband where they will smile, crack jokes, and constantly watch over their children and grandchildren. When Joan was younger, she grew up with an inseparable group of girl friends who called themselves The Blue Angels. Throughout her life, they shared many memories together all the way until the date of her passing. In her later years, Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going out to happy hours, attending her grandchildren’s life events, and spinning the slots at local casinos. She was also passionate about donating to her church and local girls clubs, and helping out others. She has made lots of incredible memories over her years and they were always shared through her endless story telling.
Joan’s legacy is carried on through her two children, Michael and Teddy, and her three grandchildren, Tyler, Alana, and Alexa. Joan is survived by her siblings Michael Pietrzak (Sharon), Edward Pietrzak (Colleen), Thomas Pietrzak (Kathy Curry) and Kenneth Pietrzak (Gerry) and many nieces, nephews and their families. While she will be missed dearly by her family and friends, her stories and the impact she made on all those who crossed paths with her will continue to be shared and carried on.
