Genevieve R Janka (nee Kender) of Moorestown NJ passed away at home on March 19, 2022.
Beloved wife of the late John; loving mother of Janice Hartmann (Paul),
Karen Janka, John Janka (Julie), and David Janka; grandmother of
Nicole and Aly. Predeceased by six brothers and sisters, she is also survived
by her brother Casimer, sister Irene, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in the Milwaukee WI area, she moved to Tokyo, Japan at the end of World War II and worked as a civilian secretary for four years for the U.S occupying forces. After returning to the States she eventually settled in the Philadelphia area where she met and married her husband, John. She lived in Moorestown since 1961 where she and John built their home and raised their children.
Genevieve was devoted to her family and encouraged her children to take advantage of every opportunity life provided them, especially education and travel. She was everyone's favorite baker. Visitors always remembered the delicious smells drifting from the kitchen and relished an invitation to stay for dinner. She was passionate about helping those in need, especially underprivileged children.
There will be no funeral services per Genevieve's wishes. The family will hold a private ceremony at a future date.
For those who wish to contribute to a charity in her memory, charities that held a special place in her heart are The St. Josephs Indian School, The Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
