MILEWSKI
ERNEST "MICKEY", age 81, of Phila., on March 3, 2004. Born in Phila. to the late Chester and Josephine Milewski. He was a decorated Army Veteran of WW II where he served as a medic in the Pacific Theater. As a 40 year union official, he served as the International Secretary Treasurer of United Textile Workers of America AFL-CIO from 1985 until his 1990 retirement. Mr. Milewski held the office of International Vice President of the U.T.W.A. AFL-CIO, was area director for the Mid-Atlantic States for 25 years, managing director of Phila. Vicinity District Council U.T.W.A. AFL-CIO, managing director of the Northeast PA District Council U.T.W.A. AFL-CIO, served as a trustee of Phila. State Hospital, was appointed by the president of the United States upon the recommend-ation of George Meany Pres. AFL-CIO to serve as a member of the Presidential Commission conducting Public hearings (Puerto Rico) on minimum wages, was a director of the Committee of One Hundred for the industrial development of Northeast PA, was director of the Wyoming Valley Red Cross, and was a member of the Natl. Defense executive Reserve, appointed by the President on the recommendation of George Meany.
Mickey was preceded in death by his wife Stella, and is survived by his son Ernest R. Milewski of West Pittston, daughter Barbara Kerns of Bensalem; grandchildren Jim Kraft, Jesse (Susie) Kraft, Janet Kraft, and Michael Milewski; brother Edward Milewski of Lebanon, sisters Alice Werchosowski of Huntingdon Valley, and Frances Jones of Phila. Relatives, friends, and fellow members of American Legion Post 396 are invited to his viewing Sunday EVENING 6 - 8 P.M, and on Monday Morning after 9 AM at THE SLABINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 2614 Orthodox St. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM St. Dominic's Church.
