Conrad 'Connie' J. Miller, Jr., age 90, of Ocean City, NJ, and Tequesta, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2022, in Tequesta, Florida. Beloved husband of Ruth E. Miller (nee McClintock). Loving father of Cindy Miller (John Truchel ) and Conrad 'Chip' J. Miller, III (Caroline Churchill). Devoted grandfather of Roy Reinard IV (Melissa), Conrad J. Miller IV (Rachelle), Alexander Miller, John Volturo (Katherine) and John Truchel, Jr. and great grandfather of Patton Truchel, Porter Truchel, Luke Reinard, Josephine Reinard, Sadie Jean Volturo and Sydney Ruth Miller.
Connie was a proud graduate of LaSalle College High School, Class of 1950. He was a great athlete, playing basketball and baseball at La Salle High School and Temple University and also played on the golf team at Temple. In his senior year of high school ,1950, he played Point Guard for the City League Championship, which he won along with his team mates and longtime friends John Kane, Charlie Mohr and Tom Gola. While at Temple University, where he met his wife Ruth, Connie played Point Guard under Coach Harry Litwack.
Connie was extremely active at LaSalle High School and became the first President of the Alumni Association and later was inducted into the LaSalle High School Hall of Fame.
He had a successful career, including serving as President of Intermec Technologies Corporation. Under his leadership, the organization developed Code 39 bar coding technology and the first handheld scaner. Notably, they were awarded the military contracts for the US Airforce and US Army.
After retiring in 1997, Connie and Ruth enjoyed many happy years on the bay in Ocean City boating, golfing, playing tennis, and entertaining. They also enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
A family mass was held in Tequesta, FL, and a Celebration of Connie's Life will take place on a future date in Ocean City, NJ. Donations in memory of Connie Miller may be made to LaSalle College High School, 8605 Cheltenham Ave., Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
