Amy Colistra Malinowski

Amy Colistra Malinowski, age 50, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Ocean View, NJ on May 23, 2023, following her courageous battle with cancer. 

Amy was the beloved mother of Madison Hanna Malinowski; cherished daughter of Joseph J. Colistra, Jr. and Patricia M. (Hanna) Colistra; loving sister of Joseph J. Colistra III (Colleen) and Paul D. Colistra (Colleen); proud aunt of her nieces, Athena and Luca, and nephew, Ryan; and devoted co-parent with her former spouse, Craig Malinowski (Michelle). 

Born in Elkins Park, PA, Amy was a three sport athlete at Cheltenham High School and Ursinus College and received her Masters Degree in Education from Arcadia University.  Professionally, Amy was a special education teacher in the Philadelphia School District with over 25 years of dedicated service to her students and various school communities, including Thomas Edison and Saul Public High Schools. She was a caring mentor, advocate, and true friend to all of her students and peers. Amy always showed interest and devoted her time as a coach and school captain for her other passion - running with Students Run Philly Style, where she co-founded running clubs and cross-country teams. Amy inspired her student athletes to pursue their goals by challenging themselves while helping to round out their education. 

Amy was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Madison, who she deeply loved and cherished. Amy and Madison shared a special bond that will never be broken. During their time together, they created wonderful memories, enjoying frequent nature-bound adventures in Tyler Park, weekends at Hershey Park, or just cooking soup at home. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Amy’s visitation on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 9 AM to 11 AM in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 8320 Brookside Rd, Elkins Park, PA 19027 followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
