Slabinski-Sucharski Funeral Home is the first funeral provider in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to have earned accreditation from the Green Burial Council to provide options for natural burial.
The Green Burial Council is a not-for-profit organization that encourages the use of burial as a means of facilitating the restoration, acquisition and stewardship of natural areas through out the United States.
A natural burial, sometimes called a green burial, does not contemplate the use of formaldehyde-based embalming, the use of a metal caskets, or the placement of concrete burial vaults.
The practice of natural burials allows families to choose from a wide variety of services and products that align with the standards of the Green Burial Council such as cotton or wool clothing, bio-degradable caskets and often is considered more “environmentally friendly” than cremation, due to the use of gas and emissions into the air caused by the cremation process.
“Our family is always striving to provide best practices when it comes to funeral preferences. We understand the importance of being out front on emerging industry accreditations. The Green Burial Council is leading other organizations in this growing “green” movement.”
